Ingredients

  • 1 lb cheese curds
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1.5 cup panko or breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Steps

  1. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl whisk eggs with water.
  4. Place panko or breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Toss cheese curds in the seasoned flour, then dip in the egg mixture, then coat with panko.
  6. Carefully fry curds in batches 1–2 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
