Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.33 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • For the filling:
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • For the glaze:
  • 1.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead (by hand or mixer) until a smooth, elastic dough forms, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 16×20 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
  8. Starting from a long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
  9. Cut into 12 equal slices and place in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  10. Cover and let rise a second time for about 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  13. While warm, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  14. Drizzle glaze over the warm rolls and serve.
